Teaching Children with Fear Based Tactics Now a Thing of the Past
Coach Bruce’s Childhood Discipline Techniques Will Help Parents Succeed with Love, NOT FEAR
Houston, TX (May 2010)—ABC’s Press announces the publication of their latest release, The Gymnastics of Love and Discipline: A Parental Template for Giving Children a Voice, by Coach Bruce Benko.
Bruce Benko is a gifted gymnastics coach who worked in the Houston and Sugar Land, Texas, area for more than 20 years. Throughout the course of his teaching career, Coach Bruce experimented with many communication and discipline techniques. The Gymnastics of Love and Discipline: A Parental Template for Giving Children a Voice is his story about what works and doesn’t work when teaching children in a loving, learning environment. The book is written in an easy-to-read style which speaks directly to parents who are seeking a more effective way to engage, communicate, and discipline their children.
“I wrote this book because I felt I had to give back,” said Coach Bruce. “I feel I have the golden keys that parents are looking for when it comes to communicating and disciplining their children. This book is based on my many years of observation and classroom experiences. It will give parents the support and guidance they have been looking for.”
Through countless conversations with thousands of parents, Coach Bruce realized how little the parents understood about what was really going on in their child’s mind. “Why is my child giving me a blank stare? Why doesn’t my child obey the first time I ask him to do something? How can I gain my child’s trust?” Coach Bruce addresses these questions and many more with specific advice that is not based on guesswork but rather on real results proven over time in his classroom, with the children he taught. Many parents discipline their children in an ineffective way because they are pressed for time and they do not know what else to do. The good news is: PARENTS NOW HAVE A CHOICE! They can choose success and the confidence of knowing they are doing what is right for their child.
Dr. Kay Albrecht, Innovations in Early Childhood Education, a child and family development specialist, has this to say about The Gymnastics of Love and Discipline: A Parental Template for Giving Children a Voice, “This book on child discipline tempered with love will resonate with every parent of young children. Easy to read, it suggests parental techniques (or strategies) certain to succeed.”

Bio:
Coach Bruce Benko grew up in the small town of Truckee, California, near Lake Tahoe. In 1987 he decided to pursue a career teaching gymnastics, and moved to Houston, Texas. He found people whom he considered the best in the fields of education and gymnastics and made their work his “classroom.”
In 1992, he started a mobile gymnasium called Texas Tumblers which at its core is a non-competitive, age-appropriate, gross motor development program. Because his programs were designed to be located at the child’s school, he was able to observe and interact with parents, teachers, and administrators where he learned from many different education systems. Coach Bruce’s “fly on the wall” approach allowed him to observe what did and did not work with children and gave him an insight that very few people ever get.
Coach Bruce shares the wisdom he has gained over the course of twenty-five years, teaching more than 10,000 children, counseling thousands of parents, and working with over one-hundred educators in 10+ different school systems, to help parents learn how to implement strategies and techniques that will give their child a Voice—the ability to express their needs and to help them protect themselves with their words. These same methods also gave Coach Bruce the Power— the ability to react to a child’s behavior in a way that brings understanding, mutual respect, and ultimately, the desired behavior.
In 2010, Coach Bruce began writing a behavioral curriculum called Giving Children a Voice. His intention is to help adults understand The Gymnastics of Love & Discipline, so children can learn through communication and respect. Understanding "why" children misbehave or don't comply based on the child's age-appropriate developmental scale was the key to his success. Learning when children understood concepts like time, reasoning, and that others have feelings allowed him to create a successful approach when addressing children.
Coach Bruce plans to travel the country sharing firsthand how he gains the trust and respect of children and parents alike.
